The Kanyisa Project is an initiative of the Kanyisa Food Security Foundation, aimed at contributing to the improvement of rural household incomes in Uganda through the promotion of the cultivation, production, processing and marketing of quality fresh Hass Avocado variety, avocado oil and Macadamia nuts for the domestic and export market.
Kanyisa has already embarked on a process of establishing a Hass Avocado Orchard, sitting on 250-acre land and a Macadamia Orchard, sitting on 150-acre land in Lugushuru sub county, Sembabule District, to support smallholder farmers’ demonstration and training activities.
Kanyisa has also embarked on the establishment of seedlings nursery bed for both Hass Avocado variety and Macadamia nuts.
To sustainably improve the livelihoods of smallholder rural farmers and their households.
To increase incomes of rural farmers, strengthen their organizational capacity, knowledge generation and dissemination through participation in guided Hass Avocado and Macademia nuts growing for domestic and export market.
